How to Reboot the Server

The use for rebooting a server can help it fully download any update it has pending and reset temporary files allowing it to be more efficient and reduce chances of Data Corrupting

To perform a reboot;

First, make a time so that clients, admins and any other users will be aware of it being down

Second, make sure that a stable electric connection will be there for the entirety of the Restart

  1. Make 100% sure that there is a backup that has been recently completed in its entirety
  2. stop any currently active Services on the Server
    this will mean turning of any active applications in the server manager and stopping any services in XAMPP
  3. to setup the reboot first go into the search bar and type PowerShell Then right the Command in the command prompt:
    shutdown /R /t 0

    shutdown will initiate the sequence
    /r will prevent full shutdown instead just rebooting it
    /t paired with a number will delay the sequence

  4. this process will take approximately 5-10 minutes. Once that is complete the server can be turned back on and the services can reenabled and the Server should be successfully rebooted
